ESMERALDA UGALDE

Esmeralda Ugalde, “La Joya de San Luis” (the Jewel of San Luis), was born on October 27, 1991 in Río Verde, San Luis Potosí, Mexico.  From a very early age she felt a passion for music and dreamed of becoming a singer like her sister Ana Bárbara.

Singing in the “San Luis” style, in 2007 she began promoting her first single “Por Ti” from the album with the same name.  Other songs from the album include “Y Es por Eso,” “La Única que te Entiende,” “Será Amor,” and “Como Duele,” among others.  Esmeralda has also performed with the likes of Ramón Ayala, Los Bravos del Norte, La Arrolladora Banda Limón, and Explosión Norteña.

In 2010 she participated in the casting for the musical reality show La Academia Bicentenario where, after three and a half months of hard work, her voice, talent, and charisma made her the winner on December 19.

From then on she has performed at several important events including Espinoza Paz’s concert in the Auditorio Nacional (National Auditorium) in Mexico as well as the Vive Grupero concert.

She is currently studying at Azteca’s CEFAT (Centro de Estudios y Formación Actoral), balancing coursework with live personal appearances as well as performing in Caravana Azteca alongside Johnny Sigal, Paolo Ragone (international winner of La Academia Bicentenario), Tobby, and G6, among others.  She is currently preparing for her next album.
