Raúl Sandoval is an actor and singer of regional Mexican ranchera music who was launched to fame in 2002 when he was part of the first class of the musical reality show La Academia.

He began singing lead vocals with the musical group Banda Lobo in his native Mexicali, Sinaloa, but it was in 2002 that his professional career took off when he joined La Academia.  Although he did not win the competition, he did win the heart of the Mexican public, showing throughout the season his great talent, powerful voice, and romantic nature.

After his appearance in the reality show, he starred in the telenovela Dos Chicos de Cuidado alongside fellow La Academia alumnus Víctor García.  In 2003 he returned to the musical reality competition genre, participating in Desafío de Estrellas, where he came in third place and won a chance to record his firs solo record.

He has recorded a total of five albums, among them a compilation of his songs from La Academia, Desafío de Estrellas, Serenata (for which he won a gold record), and Perdón Porque which included collaborations with Pepe Aguilar and José Manuel Figueroa, among others.  After a nearly two-year absence, he returns with a new norteño/banda album Ánimo Raza whose first single is “No le Hagamos al Cuento.”
